Best Mid-range Woofer

"Dictionary Lovers Rock" - Antoine de Caunes (2010) by Bruno

Diving in the memories and passion Rock'n'Roll

The younger Mr. Antoine de Caunes known for his performances of actors, and as a director. Other, slightly less young people, with drop and its shiningly, skits elsewhere. But few know that he began his career as a staunch supporter and advocate Wock'n'Woll.

therefore recall that he had fought tooth and nail, against all odds, against the right-thinking "Programming TV channels, not only to establish a weekly program on the Rock in all its forms, but again, (the lack of air gus!), to make a show "Live". Either refute any form of playback, the era of Guy Lux and Drucker reigned supreme over Middle Earth, he organized with his concerts in the community room of the Empire ( then shared with the " 'School of fans Jacques Martin ) for broadcast as shown on television. And breads, broken voice, interpretations were equally distributed approximate the magic moments inherent to the scene. A challenge that De Caunes won the high-hand despite the limited resources given to him by Antenne 2, instead of "roadblocks". The issue, of course, called Chorus. Well before the radios, which do not remain long in fact, Chorus had the advantage of broadcast (in 1978 then), on an equal footing, musicians then more or less known in France (The Cure, Pretenders, Stray Cats, Joe Jackson, The Beat, DeVille, Rose Tattoo), as well as international stars (James Brown, Nugent, ZZ-Top). This is the first that Bruce Springteen present in France at the time of the album "The River" (he has contributed significantly to its recognition in the hexagon).

Later, he created the best period of the "Enfants du Rock", with a Houba Houba-developed, provided relevant, with documentary, interview, clip, and concert. His withdrawal marks the genesis of the rapid decay of the show, culminating with a special Julien Clerc (sic!).
Not totally discouraged, he repeated the adventure with Rock TV Rapido. However, as its name suggested, the issue was very short, Antoine making every effort to provide maximum information in minimum time twenty minutes, thanks to a frantic flow of words.
He joined the radio for a broadcast in which he discovered, through a journey of several American cities, the different songs that were played. The show was winning.

Finally, Antoine registry changes and addresses the burlesque, integrating Canal + with the show "Nowhere." There, his talent exploded, helped Laurent Chalumeau texts and Albert Algoud. His collaboration with a young unknown, Jose Garcia, will be the zenith of the show, and a classic entertainment, still unmatched in the chain.
He followed a career as an actor. Again, (but where will-on?), It is more than a good impression, earning the respect of audiences and peers. "The man is a woman like any other" (excellent) earned him a nomination, well deserved, for Caesars.

Today, Antoine de Caunes has been in the range of the writer. Thing not new since it has already written two novels, and a book on Magma (in 78). In the "Dictionary of Lovers Rock", (re) discovers a person basically cultivated. Various references coming from all directions, and one wonders if there's one thing to know Caunes. Except perhaps quantum physics, or inertial confinement fusion, but in fact the subject does not lend it. Obviously, this is a passionate words of French. How could it be otherwise when handled with such dexterity, and malice, the language of Molière.

With this book, Antony lists anecdotes about personal experiences with various musicians that was given to cross, usually for its various programs, or some childhood memories related to his love of music. But also, the "kick-heart", passions for the artists he likes, respects. Thus, through a concert, memorable or not a disc, a career he chronicles admiration. Or disappointment. To this end, he did not hesitate sometimes to scratch the man, where the relationship of the latter is terrible, or that may be contentious, however, without denigrating his music.

The book, 719 pages numbered 677 of which reads (omitting the TOC ), 13x20x3, 5, 802 grams , presents one hundred and nine chapters. All, of course, related to Rock, broad, very broad, no barriers, boundaries even less partisan, but still some subjectivity, in all human logic. 109 chapters in alphabetical order, devoted to artists, groups as diverse as Bashung, Angus Young, Bowie, JJ Cale, Nina Hagen, Dr. Feelgood, John Hiatt, Isaak, Kinks, liitle Richard, Iggy, Prince, Ramones, Stones, Who, SRV, Zappa, Johnny Winter, The Stranglers, The Pogues, McCartney, Manassas, Mayer, Clash, Midnight Oil, etc. ...

To do this, carefully avoiding the bombastic or redundant, Anthony plays with words, breathing rhythm, fluidity, all often with humor fresh, never rude, which gives this book a pleasure to read. Thus, this reading should satisfy both the nostalgic of the Canal that the amateur lambda Rock, even the simple curious lover of fine words and well-turned phrases. Sometimes truculent, very rarely caustic, these chapters give a real pleasure to read good. At the point that you go back even on matters that were, at first obscured, because the theme seemed hardly exciting, as one is struck by the prose and text. A delight. Moreover, it is not no secret to say that De Caunes captivate an audience with topics as soporific as the reproduction of beetles or "what dreams dwarf squirrel Azerbaijan .

A real pleasure to read, we take the trouble to eat without music, taking care to isolate themselves, to enjoy.
A dictionary? No. Just an excuse to communicate, share a passion (love) this music is rich and multifaceted. Hopefully a second volume.

And then, well, let Antony speak for himself:
